Those who decide himself as scholar won't even know what is knowledge. Because in actual knowledge both the subject and object becomes one. He will never decide, there is no need to decide. He becomes one with knowledge. He is knowledge.
Everybody need to know the truth. That truth is nothing but self knowledge also called Self Realization.
